Peter shoots his first Snipe of 2009

Posted January 5th, 2009 2 Comments

Went out this morning over to the Wirral Peninsular with Kira for a couple of hours hunting.

Nice crisp morning and we saw quite a few birds. I manage to shoot two Snipe, one off Kira’s point, missed a Pheasant she pointed beautifully and let around a dozen or so more go as they flew too low or the shots could have been unsafe.

Kira did a couple of Snipe retrieves, one of which she pointed as she was not sure it was shot, so I had to gently encourage her to go in and pick it.

All in all a nice morning’s hunting, doing what Drahthaar’s are designed to do – one man, his gun and his dog (and his Canon G9 camera).

Hopefully I will get the hang of hunting, videoing, shooting and handling my dog all at the same time !!

    Hi Peter & Maxine,
Firstly I am not really a computer man, was shown your website and have to say I really enjoyed it, the video footage showing the young dog hunting snipe is what owning an HPR is all about, maybe more people will work them like you guys
    all the best for 2009

You need a camera man (or woman) and do some more of this. It would be good to see some training tips as well……
