Joker wins Open at GSPA Working Test
Posted April 30th, 2007
Maestro (Femkes Footsteps Maestro at Kimmax imp) may be retired from field competitions now but his children have taken up the challenge of keeping his legacy and had great success at the recent GSPA Working Test held on the Stoke Bardolph Estate, in Nottinghamshire on 22nd April 2007.
Maestro’s son, Joker (Ch Just Joking for Kimmax JW ShCM), handled by Peter, emerged top dog on the day by winning one of the most closely contested Open Working Tests so far this year. Only 1 point separated the top 4 dogs (two of whom were placed at the prestigious Beta 2 day competition last year).
In the end Joker fought of the challenge due to having the top hunting score overall to win 1st place in Open, judged by Jim Field.
Not to be outdone, Maxine handled her Maestro son, Barney (Kimmax Two’s Kompany) to an excellent 2nd place in puppy, judged by Irmgard Alcock. He went well in both retrieving and hunting. He also ran in the Novice test against much older dogs and gained super retrieving scores but his inexperience at this level affected his hunting score.
‘Saint’ Barney as he is known, is only 14 months old and has shown natural ability right from day one. Maxine and he are a real combination to watch out for in the coming months as he is so keen and quick to learn.
A Maestro daughter also made the awards in grand style. David Chambers handled Kiri (Abbotsbourne Starlight over Coneycovert) to an excellent 3rd place in another hard fought competition under judges Penny Pickstone and Jean Robertson.
Great to see the quality of Maestro’s Dutch lines shining through in his children.
