It is a sad fact that about 85% of all German Wirehaired Pointers bred in the UK are bred by people who come and go. They breed 1 litter, never breed again and do not provide any back-up support to the owners of those puppies if problems arise.
The GWP Charitable rescue was founded by us to utilise the internet to put owners and other rescue agencies who needed advice, guidance or assistance in rehoming German Wirehaired Pointers together with people we come into contact with who are willing to offer homes.
Although not a registered Charity, the GWP Charitable Rescue is entirely funded by voluntary donations of time and money and a non-profit entity. We thank everyone for their support.
Need Help with your GWP ?
If your breeder will not assist, do not worry, contact us. We know most of the bloodlines in the UK so if you are having problems we have trained GWP’s to the top levels in most disciplines and met most of the issues before. We might be able to help or advise or, if you can no longer keep your dog, help you find a suitable home.
Want to offer a Home to a Rescue GWP ?
We always need good understanding homes for GWP Rescue dogs. We do not get many, but those we rehome are generally successful in their new homes. You need to be aware of the responsibility you are taking on and usually we look for experienced dog owners (even better if they have had GWP’s before).
