The GWP Charitable Rescue (GWPC Rescue) was founded by us to utilise the internet to put owners and other rescue agencies who needed advice, guidance or assistance in rehoming German Wirehaired Pointers together with people we come into contact with who are willing to offer homes.
Although not a registered Charity, the GWP Charitable Rescue is entirely funded by ourselves and voluntary donations of time and money and a non-profit entity. We thank everyone for their support.
It is a sad fact that about 85% of all German Wirehaired Pointers bred in the UK are bred by people who come and go. They breed 1 litter, never breed again and do not provide any back-up support to the owners of those puppies if problems arise.
Need advice or need to rehome your GWP ?
If your German Wirehaired Pointer breeder will not assist, do not worry, contact us. We know the origins and health/nature of most of the bloodlines in the UK, so if you are having problems we may well be able to help. You may just need help or advice to get things back on track but, if you can no longer keep your dog, we can help you find a suitable home and advise on alternative rescues who can help as well.
Want to offer a home to a Rescue GWP ?
We always need good understanding homes for GWPC Rescue dogs. We do not get many, but those we rehome are generally successful in their new homes. You need to be aware of the responsibility you are taking on and usually we look for experienced dog owners (even better if they have had GWP’s before).
