1st in St Helens to get the iPhone 3G !
Posted July 11th, 2008
The iPhone 3G was launched today and saddo that I am I went to the O2 store in St Helens (because I thought it would be quiet) just before 6.30am as the iPhone launch was at 8.02am. I was first in the queue but was joined within seconds by another lad and then Don McAllister of Screencasts On-line podcast. All the time I have used Don’s excellent training site, I never knew he lived just round the corner - small world !

We all stood in the pouring rain together, the store only had 4 x 16Gb iPhones and 12 x 8Gb iPhones and by 7.15 the queue was already too big for everyone to get a phone. I, of course, had to get there first as I needed a 16Gb one. Maxine thinks I am mad but I am the ultimate Apple geek.
This is my 4th iPhone having has one of the first US ones (hacked of course), then I got a UK one when they launched, then upgraded to the 16Gb when they came out and now just had to have the 3G version.
The phone is great, iPhone 2.0 software and Mobile Me were worth the wait and finally …… 3G !!
Already loaded Twitterific so if you want to get me on twitter.com - my screenname is petermacc.
